Well, its been a week since I wrote anything as far as new posts around here. I’ve been busier than normal with faith things, namely to learn as much as I can in as little time as possible. So besides the regular church stuff I’ve been cramming in the evenings till bedtime with the bible Studies from Pillar of Truth Ministries. This will slow down considerably once the ground dries up enough for me to get out and start the spring workload that’s piled up here. But until then, its get as much done as I can. These studies are a real blessing for me, simple, to the point and they are developing good study habits of the Word of God. That precious Word!
And besides all of that and all the things going on at our little church, today, Sunday, March 30th we had us J.C. Smith preaching there. And the church has a new sound system, a very good one, and I have a great CD of today’s sermon downloaded on this clunk of a computer now. Now if I could figure out how to podcast I could make many good sermons available that we are privileged to hear in that little country church. Isn’t it amazing how such things can come from a little country church in no where land! And after the service I was strangely shot, beat, tired, but went and visited some of the saints on the way home for a couple of hours before afternoon chores. It was a good day, witnessing great preaching and powerful healings! I’d bet that there ain’t to many places in America today where someone could witness this happening anymore, sad to say. But for some reason its happening here.
Sometimes I wonder about all of this, why in that little church are folks so hungry for God? They sure are and it ain’t fake! Its almost like there’s a breakthrough about to happen, a going back to the basics when God moved strongly like years ago in the simple country churches. And I wonder, because as I stumble bum through faith matters there’s so many things I’m learning from all of this that I know I couldn’t get any where else that I know of around here. Not in the most on the move churches could a person ever hope to get even near what’s happening when a simple people chase after God, as in the days of yesteryear. Today Rev. Smith called me up there to witness a healing. An incredible healing. One of the church members brought some of his relation to church, maybe for the first time there, and one of them had a shorter leg. J.C. had myself and another lady witness this close up. Got my nose right down there where the man was sitting and observed close up. And I witnessed the shorter leg stretch out to become the same length as the longer one! There were many more dramatic healings and people coming to God, but I seen something like this on one of the healing videos one this blog from the healing revivals of yesteryear, but I gotta tell you, when you see it happening only a few inches away from your eyes, there’s no man or woman that can ever tell you different! What a privilege to witness God’s love and power right before your eyes! What the world scoffs off as impossible is real!
There were many other things that happened there, but for myself, I don’t have to rely on old videos to see the wonders of God’s healing ministry! In December, January and now March, I’ve witnessed close up and personal many, many healings along with deliverances! So where does this put me in the eyes of many nowadays. Well, I figure just writing things like this will make it so I’m laughed at, scoffed at, or called a liar. Doesn’t matter much, because I know what I know! This is what God wants! to be glorified!
So where does it all go from here. Well, I have no clear direction yet, the biggest burden on my heart is to learn as much as I can as fast as I can. To be prepared for what there is to do shortly in this area. This dual education, of studying and witnessing God’s power and majesty is a rare thing nowadays, a privilege for sure. But I sometimes wonder, why us folks out here? We’re basically nothings in this world. Just simple folks for the most part. But we’re seeing and living what most people can only hope to look back on in some videos or books. Will all this be wasted? I pray not! But one thing J.C. said today was burned into my heart till the day I cross that old river Jordan. It’s about when God looks down and sees a church He doesn’t call it by its man given name. He calls it the church of whatever town or location its in. And that goes for our homes too, the homes of believers which are God’s church. Well, from now on we’re the Church of Dairy Road in this house that belong to the church of Burtrum.
Allot to chew on today, allot. So much happening that its got me in a whirl sometimes. But a good whirl!
Morning Tom,
Man, It sounds like you had quite a Sunday. Now I know your not a liar and all. Its kind of funny how that works. Down here, we get scoffed at for turning bread and blood into the actual blood and body of Christ. I’ve heard us called a cult before. Oh well, God leads us, and I’m sure he ain’t leading both of us down wrong paths
.
I love this time of year and the readings. We’re into the days right after Jesus rose. Talking about Thomas and all. Our priest from India really likes ol Thomas. Guess he got on a boat and went to India to spread the word of God. Anyway, from now until the pentecost is probably my favorite time of the year.
Well, off to get that ol trailer sickle mower this morning. Looks like the perfect day for it. Rainy and all. Looks like rain for most of the week. I will sure take that!!
The ol “B” gave me a suprise Saturday. I jumped on er and started it up and the switch stuck I couldn’t shut the starter off. Well, you probably know the feeling of panic when there are no tools around or anything. Brought back to mind a line from an old song called “uneasy rider”. It went something like “I was a jumping and a fetchin like my head was on fire and my backside was ketchin” (edited for family content of course
) Finally found a pair of pliers to undo the battery, but it was way too late. Just a smokin pile of wires was all that was left. Now I gotta go into town and see if I can fins someone to rebuild it. Nothing like panic-ing at a dollar a second…..
Well, better git. I’ve got a 3 hour drive ahead of me. Looks like I’ll be able to hit those lessons hot and heavy this week cause with the weather ahead I’ll only have to count the animals and make sure their hanging around.
Have a GREAT day,
Brad
Morning Brad!
Yup, I always heard old Thomas ended up in India. I can see why your priest has admiration for him! There’s a whole lot more that I can add to what I wrote last evening. Yesterday was just something else! God does move, if allowed to. today I’ll hash it all over in my head and heart, might be snowing out in a bit, but you never know this time of year. Sometimes I’m almost overwhelmed with stuff to think about, durn good thing I’m a farmer so I have time to do this thinking. No distractions from other people, and only once in a while a distraction from some critter around here trying to make my day.
I’m about half way through the second set of courses, I think I did around ten or eleven lessons this last week and got them sent in. But even when I’m busy I’ll make sure I do at least a few questions a night before bed. From past experience these last couple of years I’d better not rely on rainy summer days to catch up with something like lessons or I’ll fall way behind
One thing about them lessons, a person could very easily use them for group Bible Studies or to give to people that are hungry to know the Bible.I’ll even incorporate a little of those lessons in Children’s Church this coming Wednesday.
Don’t know what the day will bring around here, lookin like a big blob of snow is ready to dump on us. Better hurry up with morning chores in case I want to lay low most of the day.
Oh, I had the same problem you had on our “50″. Out in the middle of a hay field five miles from home. Since that time I’ve learned to leave one battery cable not tightened to the post so I can flip off the seat and just grab the cable and wiggle it off durn quick. Live and learn, been through the fire so to speak
God Bless!
Tom, you never fail to challenge me and my faith! I struggle to wrap my mind around what you write about healings, but I know you are neither a liar or a fool. Like Thomas of old , I need to see it myself to fully accept things, a burden I carry from a mainline church upbringing. But it sure seems like your church is on fire, hang on for the ride, you folks are going places!
Hey Brent!
Hmm, I think I’ll really challenge you! You’ve been a good friend through these last couple of years and you be looking in your mailbox in a few days for some preaching from our little church. I do believe your in for a surprise and a great blessing to boot!
God Bless!
Morning Tom,
You know, I really liked your next to last paragraph. I often wonder where we go from here too. What is this big plan and why did God pull me out of that camper shell and tell me I could do better than what I was doing.
I’m just figgering he’s up there rolling his eyes waiting to hit me right between my eyes with his holy 2×4 and saying “You get it now????” . By then, I’ll probably say yep, but until then I’ll just keep cruising along.
You know, there has to be something up. I mean why else would I be here at 5:10am, or doing some bible studies or keep struggling with ol raggely stuff on my farm because I’m not about to take out any loans for new stuff. I have no idea, but I’m sure I will someday.
Well, I made it back from Kentucky with the new old mower. Its got a couple of things wrong that I’ll have to work on, but I’ve got nearly two months to fix it (that means I’ll get to it an hour before I start mowing
).
Well better get on. For some reason I’m pretty tired tired this morning. I didn’t so anything but drive for a few hours and watch a high school baseball game last night. Ahhhh well feeling a bit of laziness creeping into these ol bones…….
Have a GREAT day,
Brad
Morning Brad!
So many things are coming into play and I stand back amazed. This old farm will keep on plugging, there’s better days ahead. As us two drought farmers know, times will change for the better. Talking about not going into debt, this would have been a very miserable experience if the burden of debt would have been hanging over the place. This way I only had to worry about the day to day stuff through these last couple of years and not a banker breathing down my neck too.
Hmm, I had to read that paragraph, I sometimes forget what I wrote
I’ll be here a bit more now, hopefully, Jim V is going to jump in and help out on NF and give me a rest. It doesn’t take me long to recharge, but I’ve been kinda burning out a tad bit and this place has always been my refresher place.
Sounds like you and me have the same work habits, fixin when its time to be using whatever needs fixin
That’s the way I am most of the time, but seriously, around this neck of the wood there’s usually no time and I don’t want no big fancy shop that they’d just tax us for anyhow. I’d rather fix under the shade tree
God Bless!
Morning Tom,
How are things treatin you up that way. I’ll tell ya, from the sounds of the thaw, its sounds like its perfect for you, but probably miserable on the kids. I can remember wanting the yard lakes to be gone after the first or second day of spring.
Well, we don’t have that problem down here. Heck, in one more week our high school baseball season will be over. We started in mid February. Amazing the difference 800 miles or so makes ain’t it? Saw a game last night. I think its great how them kids react to one and other. When everyone says todays kids don’t do this or don’t do that I could just remember last night and how they were all laughing and teasing a kid that isn’t fast how a gust of wind had come up and slowed him down to get the out. We lost, but the kids were trying hard and having fun too and it wasn’t the end of the world when the score wasn’t to their favor. Actually a pretty upbeat night for the future of America if you ask me.
Alright shade tree mechanic. I’d put my tree up against yours anyday
. I’ve got one by my shop that has bare spots where I’m always pulling something up to greeze or fix. This year, of course, I’m hoping for a couple less bare spots……. The real teller that I have a redneck shop though is the place above the door where the tin is bent up about a foot or so along it. This is because the exhaust pipe on two of the tractors are just a little bit too high to fit in the shop. Finally remedied that with a pair of pliers and a hammer. should have made it longer though, cause I forget sometimes and have a couple of other places along the door customized with the smokestack
Well better think about thinking what I’m gonna do today. I was sure wrong about that starter. I figured it’d be $60 to rewind it. Seems the price of wire has went up a bit. Ended up costing me about $2 a second for the panic…… Dagnabit…….
Have a GREAT day,
Brad
Morning Brad!
What a morning already. been to town to drop off the daughter, she’s heading to Chicago today with the band and then New York City for a few days. I tell you, I think I’ll fall off the end of the world when I hit Wisconsin. Them young’uns nowadays sure see the world allot more than the old man!
Hmm, didn’t get no lessons done last evening, was busy, the place was like a nerve center, phone call after phone call. Church folks in a scramble. Rumor has it the J.C. Smith will be preaching and teaching every Wednesday evening this coming month and there was some changes we had to make, (like no children’s church tonight). This might be a really good thing coming!
So aside from being in town already and almost hitting a deer on the way back, things are well this morning. Eating my traditional farm breakfast, a big one, but its a long time till noon and I don’t want to faint on the way
Gonna clean out the big old dairy barn today if the critters give me permission and no problems and as soon as temps get in the upper 50s I’ll start putzing on equipment, although this time of year I’ll park em in the sun, plus the trees don’t provide a heck of allot of shade at this point.
God Bless!
Morning Tom,
Better watch out this morning huh? Your always full of fire when Mr. Smith preaches
.
Speaking of fire, I’m mailing off an application this morning to the US government for permission to use a…..a…. still. Yep, people around here haven’t figured me out yet, but I’m hoping I don’t have to go deep in the woods. Just put it in the barn.
Now, I know how you feel about ethanol and all, but I looked at wood gas and bio diesel and this is the way for me. Alot less costs and more power corn distilling than anything else. Plus the mash I think I can feed the critters and its got 20 to 30 % protein. I’m all for doubling up on things.
Anyway this is going to be a yearlong experiment. I’ve got a couple of old water heaters saved back and I plan on building a 5 gallon a day still to start out. Then take one of the ol tractors rejet the carb and see what happens.
Well if I was leaning on a post I’d say I was flappin my gums too much. I don’t know what to say when I’m one fingerin it on this ol keyboard
. Hope spring is springin up there…..
Have a GREAT day,
Brad
Morning Brad!
Yup, had us church last night and I’m a bit tired out today, (plus I was very tired in church last evening, long day). I ain’t all too fired up today, just hoping to start recovering. Sometimes all the stuff going on can drag a person down more than anything else. Time to take a breather. I already cut back on NF blog, now I’m gonna cut way back with church stuff, tis the season you know. I need a farmer’s vacation, a few ten hour days in the field disking, dragging, planting. There’s nothing I need more than that!Besides at church now they’re having a family campaign and that involves planning vacations togather as a family and things like that. Well, these last couple of years we haven’t even had a day off let alone a vacation. So these next six weeks I’m gonna just quietly disappear. When you farm and are just trying to make the cattle herd to survive till grass, an organized vacation planner just doesn’t cut it. So I’ll let the “normal” people do all that stuff and just retreat to farming and faith and mind my own business for a couple of months.
Hmm, by minding my own business I should set up a cooker too! Trouble is I don’t have enough corn to cook up a bottle of listerene
Oh well, next year! I’m totally for farm cookin! Its the big industrial things that are totally inefficient. Farm cookin moonshine is much more efficient and makes a whole lot of sense. And if’n a person was to sit right down and figure out a whole bunch of stuff it could be so efficient that every btu used to make the stuff could be used. I say go for it! And keep me informed. Heck, I’d be doing that right now if I had corn! This next year if its even half way normal that’ll be a project around here. Its just been on hold for two years because of lack of water.
Maybe today I’ll get some of my old hillbilly blood back and get all happy and that dreaming of cookin moon and other various activities!
God Bless!
Morning Tom,
Not enough for listerene huh???
. I gotta chuckle out of that. Yep, me neither. When I go to do my imitation of the baldwin sisters (trivia…. lets see if you can remember which mountain they were on….), I’m gonna have to buy my corn. No money savings there, but this year is just experimentation. Felt kind of funny sendin off askin for permission to build a still. We’ll see what happens.
Funny how this works, but while your getting ready to crank it on up,around this raggely ol farm Its the time off the year for sittin back in the rocking charir and watching the grass grow. No crops this year, just grass. Most of the equipments working and most of the fence is staying up, so it gives me a little downtime. I stayed pretty busy this winter, so I’m not complaining.
Well were supposed to get a pretty good soaking of rain here over the next couple of days. I’m all for it. I’m sure rapping my knuckles on every piece of wood I can find right now, but I’m thinkin we might be through this dry spell. Between that and the Easter freeze last year, I wasn’t sure if we were gonna make it. If it holds for the next month or so, I’m gonna start looking at building up again. Right after I see what I got in the barn after the first cutting of grass. Thank you God for getting us through.
Oh yeah, I was gonna say, let me know how your daughter liked New York. I was there once. Thought I was gonna hate it. It really wasn’t that bad. I was kind of suprised. Those young people love the cities though too. I’m kind of anxious to hear what she thinks about it.
Now, if you need some anniversary planning ideas come to me. I’ve got a February trip next year to Ely that will knock your socks off
. I’m still catching grief from friends and family for the anniversary trip to the Soo.
Well better head on and head out. I hope you have a great weekend. Stay away from them lowspots when you decide its dry enough to get into the field….. and don’t forget the shovel
Have a GREAT day,
Brad
Morning Brad!
An amazing discovery last night, we haven’t had any TV, the satellite company dropped us, they went to high speed internet instead, and we were without any and all TV. The wife found the rabbit ears last evening and we were all amazed!! We had forgotten, there is TV without a dish!! Wow, who’da ever thunk, eh
Wow! Friday already, didn’t realize that till you mentioned having a great weekend. Where does time go when your having fun eh! Gotta get ready for working all the cows and bulls tomorrow. Pull the thirty foot tub and chute through the mud with the Bobcat and have it ready for tomorrow. The weather should cooperate somewhat from what I gather.
The daughter should be having a pretty good time in the Big Apple. I think today one of the many stops is the Statue of Liberty. I think they’re taking a dinner cruise around the thing too. Last night should’a been Broadway. (Meanwhile the old man was at home watching Jeff Foxworthy.) Oh well I figure I had better maintain culture in this place
It’ll be a while before I even attempt going in a field. No need to have a trip to China going the direct route, straight down, so I’ll stay in the yard yet for now.
Well, you have yourself a blessed weekend down there where life is warm and people are smart!
God Bless!
