Straight Forward Preaching

Many times when I write something I have no idea what I’m gonna write about when I start. In fact that’s the rule here. So here and on the Northern Farmer blog I sometimes just start with some of the day, the weather, stuff like that. Many times I delete the whole works because I just ain’t getting no flow at all. Basically if I can’t write and enjoy it, I give up. All day long stuff goes through my head about what I could write about, then when I start I have a total mind blank and just work my way into it. Sometimes it takes off pretty good. (I don’t know if anyone noticed but that’s what I’m doing right now, kinda the prelude.)

Since I replaced my old computer named Hal with this new jobby things are taking off. When I got this thing I made a vow it would only be used for the Kingdom of God, nothing else, well the weather is part of the Kingdom I figure. But that’s about as far as I stray from what drives me on the computer. And since getting this new one I can’t hardly believe what it’s coming up with. For years I couldn’t find sites that held any interest for me on the internet as far as faith matters go and now they’re just rolling out. Now if I could figure out how to categorize the links on this blog. It was on the old computer that I found Pastor Anthony Wynn preaching on Holy Ghost Online and I tell you I’ve been giving that site a workout. I needed that site and will forever be grateful that they have such a thing. Good old fashion Holy Ghost preaching 24/7.

I also have a few more links that I put on here too, for myself to use and anyone else that’s interested. Backing up a bit, this past spring our pastor in our little church in the hills set me on a coarse to investigate revival. Supplied me with books and fanned the flame of interest in me that hasn’t let up one bit since. It’s only grown. In fact investigating this subject is how I found Holy Ghost Online. There’s two others on the link list that are very special to me. One is Revival Journal and the other American Pentecost. I was praising Jesus for the fact that these came across my path. As with Holy Ghost Online, I haven’t even scratched the surface of these two other blogs that I love to read. What a tremendous blessing these are!

There’s nothing that catches my attention more than the Word of God being preached the way it was meant to be preached. And these three sites sure do that and stay with it. No compromise. They don’t nit pick about about religious matters as so many., many other sites do. Just lay it out the way the Word of God says. Nothing added, nothing taken away. Glory to God, thank you for people that walk the walk.

I’ve discovered that when I teach that’s the way I’ve been approaching everything also. Straight forward, nothing else. Don’t mush nothing up, just lay it out. I know as far as writing on the Northern Farmer blog that’s the way I always did it too. No matter what people think, it’d just be dished out truthfully. Sometimes I’d screw up a bit, but who doesn’t.

Been thinking since Sunday, been thinking allot. In the last post I wrote about being healed by the Word. Well, we got a lady at church that’s really into the Prophetic and she told me to start laying hands on the sick. Normally I brush their talk off, don’t really know why. Well, maybe it’s because I lean very hard on the evangelist gift and I can hardly notice other gifts. I have an exceptionally difficult time with prophetic groups also. I believe in the prophetic, just there ’s so much wrong with so much of it out there now. But I know that healing is something God wants His children to have. He just wants us to believe, to lean on Him. cast our cares on Him, all of them.

Three things spark an intense interest in me, evangelism, revival and divine healing. And all three do go together. I often wondered how does a person figure out their calling. You know, you always hear that one should follow their calling. I was bewildered a while back until our pastor told me “what draws you?” Well, there’s no question there! Not only do these things draw me, they drive me! Things are happening out here. Things are happening in our little church that I wouldn’t have imagined a couple of years ago.In such a spiritually dead area there’s an awakening happening. It might seem small to our eyes but I know God doesn’t see it that way. He sees the whole picture. He sees the final result!

Edit: I came across an important post this morning as I was skimming over the computer. Here’s the link to Revival Blog and the post I’m talking about, more later!

  1. Howdy!

Thanks for the warm comments on Revival Journal! All I know is to say what I think…(my wife tells me that’s what gets me in trouble is thinking:) good, bad or ugly!

As for the prophetic, I know there is a lot of fruit loops and cereal heads who operate in the prophetic; but for every cereal head, God is raising up dozens of genuine prophets who are not weirdos, but genuinely hear from God…and are on target!

    Let it flow!

  2. Morning Tom,

Well, I was trying to figure out how to say what David said and be tactful about it. I guess his ol fruit loops comments goes with what I was thinking about saying.

I will add this though. Some people were just made to do it!! I mean Paul (?? durn it- trying to reference scripture again) walked on water until life got in the way. Do I believe people could walk on water?? Yep!! Am I gonna be able to do it?? Probably not.
Same with divine healing and laying hands. I am not faithful enough in that area to be able to do it. Are you?? Hmmmmmm…. maybe….. (Too bad you can’t heal ol Hal during them lightning storms… :) )

Well weather here is gettin a bit chilly. Got our first freeze yesterday. I’m not looking forward to 3 am journeys to bust ice out of water tanks, but I think were a month away from that happening. Day temps are still in the 60’s though.

Looks like my partner in this cow boarding business is ready to give up after this year. I’m trying to scrape up enough now to buy him out. Hard to do with the type of year we had. Time to get some steers ready for the sale barn (Monday sale).

Well, better get some coffee and hit the ground running.

    Have a GREAT day,

    Brad

  3. Hey David!
Well I tell you, your site has helped me out many times as do the others that I mentioned on the post. What a blessing to say the least!

Sometimes I just have to stop, as far as the prophetic goes, take a few deep breaths, and go calmly into it. Your right, there’s allot of genuine prophets out there and I shouldn’t see the whole bunch as false, (which I really don’t), but I do grieve because of the false ones that show up everywhere including here in our area. But I’ve met people that were operating deeply in true prophetic and it’s just wonderful! What I so badly try to get across when I write, and usually botch it, is that I get totally grieved by so called prophets that come and the only thing they talk about for two hours is how this person is going to be wealthy, how that person is going to be the biggest real estate owner and developer in the region with half a dozen European luxury cars and the envy of everyone. And these are directed at us Po’ folk out here in nowhere land. Trouble is in all of this there’s barely a mention about God, just the promise of material things and getting everyone envious. See what I’m getting at here?
But I understand and believe in the prophetic regardless, knowing there will always be false one and hucksters around.

Thanks so much for stopping by here and thanks for doing what you do!

    God Bless!

  4. Morning Brad!

Let me be your scripture reference, lets see how to do this tactfully, hmm, ok, let’s just say it was Peter that was walking on water. But Peter is pretty close to Paul I mean they both start with a “P” and all. But I get your point and thank you for it!

You know that your comments would require about a ten thousand word response and I’m not done with breakfast yet and need a few more cups of coffee before I head down to the swamp and put up fence before it freezes the ground around here. But I like this when it happens because it feeds me for a reason to post about something tonight here, Lord willing and the cows stay in their fences.

Yup, I’ll try and get back on this if possible. Oh, had the first ice over of the farm pond all day yesterday, tis the season, thus I’d better get my butt in gear!!

    God Bless!

  5. [...] now tag, JC Smith, Northern Farmer, and Mark Hadfield. I would tag Brad Morgan and Jack Chancey, but their blogs are not ready [...]

  6. Thanks for the kind compliments. Blessings on your endeavors for the Kingdom!

  7. Hey Carl!
I tell you, reading your blog is a learning experience to say the least! Even though we’re in different environments the endeavors are the same and the work is for the same Kingdom!

    God Bless!
